89 year old resident of Pierz, MN Died Tuesday, December 14 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 18 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Gerald Dalsethofficiating. Burial will be at Ft Snelling National Cemetery on Monday,December 20 at 10:00 A.M. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Friday,December 17 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. The Christian Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary will pray at 4:30 P.M. followed by the Parish Prayers at 7:30 P.M. on Friday. Adeline "Addie" Hesch was born July 5, 1921 one and half miles west of Buckman. She attended school in Buckman, MN until the eighth grade. In 1943, Adeline attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture School in St. Paul, MN for one year. Adeline worked at Lewis Bolt and Nut Company in St. Paul, MN during the World War II. While working in St. Paul, MN Adeline met Robert J. Dion. The couple was united in marriage on June 1, 1946 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. The couple returned to St. Paul, MN whereAdeline worked at the Venetian Inn and the Criterion Restaurant in St. Paul, MN and at the Anglisey Resturant in Minneapolis, MN for a short time. Adeline and Robert attended Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. Robert died onAugust 8, 1951 after a brief battle with cancer. In 1952, Adeline moved to Pierz, MN with her three young girls. Adeline worked at McGuire Drug Store in Pierz, MN for 25 years. She also worked at Coborn's Grocery in Little Falls, MN as a demo lady until she was 75 years old and the retired. In the 1960's, Adeline was the Justice of the Peace for several years in Pierz, MN. Adeline was a participant for many years at the Minnesota State Fair doing pine cone wreath art. Addie will be remembered for her zest for life. She was a vibrant woman who enjoyed a good joke and telling one as well. She enjoyed entertaining the young and old alike. Adeline hobbies included golfing, traveling with family and friends, bowling and playing poker. Addie was an excellent cook, gardener and will be remembered for her dill pickles, poppy seed coffee cakes and home made bread. She was a member of the Pierz Legion Auxiliary, Christian Mothers and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She made many tied quilts and was an avid baker for the annual church bazaars. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joan Dion of St. Paul, MN, Karen Dion (Bob Brewers) of Excelsior, MN, Renee (Keith) Thielen of Pierz, MN; sisters, Louise Desautel of Albany, MN, Laura (Ray) Alkofer of Park River, N. D., Irene Kulig of Superior, WI; grandchildren, Matt (Tonya) Thielen, Amy Thielen (Aaron Spangler), Andy (Jenny) Thielen, Robert (Jill) Thielen, Joe (Heidi) Thielen, Marc (Melissa) Thielen; great-grandchildren, George Thielen, Maria Thielen, Carolyn Thiel-en, Hank Spangler, Sheppard Thielen, Alexandra Thielen, Olivia Thielen, Jack Thielen, Presley Thielen, Addie Thielen, Nico Thielen. She waspreceded in death by her parents, Mathias and Mary Hesch; husband, Robert Dion; special friend, Izzy Mehr; sisters, Helen Hesch, Dolores Eben and Mary Linvill. Arrangements are with Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN.
