Age 88 ~ Of Edina Passed away January 30, 2014 Bill was a Mason, a forester, and a tuba player. Bill was a Christian and a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Edina. The love of his life is forever Mary, his beloved wife of over 50 years. He was born in Winona MN in 1925, educated in the public schools of Elizabeth, NJ, served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery WWII, married Mary Truelsen in 1949 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Forestry in 1950. Bill was the Minnesota State Forester in Gov. Harold Levander's administration and was reappointed by Gov. Wendell Anderson. Bill was a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters and chaired the Upper Mississippi Valley Section of the SAF. He was president of the Wildlife Society in Minnesota and held numerous offices in the Izaak Walton League of America including Minnesota State President, the National Board of Directors and the National IWLA Endowment Board of Directors. Bill really enjoyed music, opera, symphonic, brass bands, big choral music, Dixieland, and singing with his parrot. He played in many bands: U of M Marching Band, first stand in the U of M Concert Band, Minnesota State Band, Star of the North Concert Band, Zuhrah Shrine Band, and the Washington Red Skins Football Marching Band. Bill was selected for the 1943 New Jersey All State Band and was recipient of a scholarship to the Ernest Williams School of Music. He most recently played tuba in the Dixie Kats. Bill was Master of Fidelity Lodge AF&AM Austin, MN 1962, Scottish Rite, Royal Order to Scotland, Zuhrah Shrine and Honorary Noble of Almas Shrine Temple in Washington D.C. Also member of Phoenix Daylight Lodge #350 and Lake Harriet Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, David H. and Carmen G. Aultfather; wife, Mary; and his only sister, Evelyn Aultfather Adams. He is survived by his son, David (Allyson); daughter, Ann Schroetter (David); one grandson, Paul Schroetter (Sarah); and great-grandsons, Henry and William Schroetter.
