Age 73, of Stillwater Passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2015 after an extended illness with Multiple System Atrophy. Survived by husband, Dennis; son, Shawn (Sharon); daughters, Kelly (Tim) Beer and Tracy (Kevin) Campeau; grandchildren, Amanda and Liam; sister, Sharon Johnson; brother, Gary Hayes; many other family and friends. Service Thursday, 11:00 A.M. at SALEM EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 14940 - 62nd Street North, Stillwater with visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the church. Age 76 of Ottertail (16 years) and Scandia (23 years) Died suddenly on July 24, 2015. Born October 15, 1938 in Becker, MN to Lorenz and Gertrude Metzger. Preceded in death by parents; and wife, Kathy. Denny is survived by children, Jan (Joe) Schwartz, Gary (Katie); grandchildren, Jennifer Neumann (Dan Schifsky), David (Sam) Neumann, Karissa; great grandchildren, Aiden, Caleb; siblings, Keith, Margie (Bill) Moores, Fred (Gloria), David (Babe), Merwin (Janet), Lucy (Denny) Lloyd, Carol (Tom) Lloyd, Joanie (Ray) Tollas; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Denny served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He worked as a mechanic, before spending 38 years with Honeywell as a punchpress operator. Denny's interests included fishing, camping, golf, and keeping the yard and house up. He enjoyed traveling to Florida, Alaska, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina, and many weekend campsites. He will be deeply missed! Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1790 11th St. S.E., Forest Lake. Age 76 of Forest Lake Died Tuesday, July 15, 2015 Walter was born August 3, 1938 in Centerville, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Louise (Marcotte) Marier. He worked for many years in Forest Lake, most recently as a personal assistant at The Forest Laker. In addition to The Forest Laker he worked at the American Legion Post 225 and McDonalds. He is preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings. He is survived by his dear friend and caregiver, Peter Paidar and his family; brothers, Andrew and Ivan Marier; several other family and dear friends. Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at the American Legion Post 225, 355 West Broadway Avenue, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. MCCULLEY, Mark  
Age 62, of Maple Plain went home to be with his heavenly Father on July 21, 2015, after a farm accident. Survived by sisters Pat Hasse (John), Jan Loomis (Ed) and Wendy McCulley; nieces and nephews Renee Hasse, Sara Ofstead (Tony), Rod Hasse (Jen), Rachel Sturgis (Sam), Joel Loomis (Heidi) and Anna Befort; great-nieces and nephews Darius Hasse, Lily and Wyatt Hasse, and Hazel and Chandler Sturgis; and many beloved friends. Preceded in death by parents Douglas and Merna McCulley. Mark was born Nov. 13, 1952 in Hennepin Co. He was a farmer all his life, receiving his first turkey poults from his father when he was 12 years old. After earning an agricultural degree from the University of Minnesota, where he was a member of the fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho, Mark joined his father in the family business, a progressive and successful farming operation that raised turkeys, swine, beef cattle, corn and soybeans. A member of the Farm Bureau, he held many leadership positions within the farm community, including a term as president of the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association. He was a third-generation member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and deacon and sang beautifully in the choir. He had a rare blood type and would faithfully answer emergency calls, stop work, and rush to the donation site. He was also the leader of a men's support group and a beloved member of a prayer and spiritual growth group. A proud Scot, Mark loved to travel, cook and sing. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend who touched many lives with his music, his joy, his love and his faith. Celebration of life will be held Sat., Aug. 1, at 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church of Maple Plain. Lunch will follow at the McCulley farm: 2112 Co. Rd. 92 N., Maple Plain. Private interment at Lewis Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Church of Maple Plain's youth programs.

Age 85 of St. Paul Passed away on July 21, 2015. Preceded in death by her parents, Myles A. and Marie H. She is survived by loving cousins and friends. MCMANUS, Phillip Edward  
Age 90 Formerly of Crystal Born Jan. 5, 1925 in Casselton ND to Edward Philip and Ernestine Catherine (Schober) McManus. Died July 23, 2015 in Brooklyn Park, MN after a very long road with Alzheimer's disease. Preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Mary Katherine "Kate" (Smith); siblings Agnes Ford, Angie Austin, Anne McManus, Harold, Gertrude Priebe, Lyle, Phyllis Klein, and Jim. Also preceded by wife of 14 years, Mary Jane (Kasid). Attended Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo three years and graduated from Casselton High School in 1943. He went on to the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology, U.S. Navy V-12 Aeronautical Engineering Program and received his B.S. in Naval Technology in 1946. While at the U of MN, he played football for the Gophers. Phil completed his service in the Navy with one year at the U.S. Naval Station in Coco Solo, Panama, in 1947. He returned to college at St. John's University and received his B.A. in Mathemics in 1948. He played football for the Johnnies. He continued his education with Master's Degree coursework at St. Thomas. Phil's career started at Maple Lake High School as a math teacher, athletic director, and head coach of the football, basketball, and baseball teams (1948-53). He met Kate in Maple Lake and they were married in 1949. Phil went on to work at Honeywell in Minneapolis for two years, but decided to go back to teaching, this time at Mounds View High School (1955-1985). He taught math and was assistant football, basketball and baseball coach. He was also a high school and college referee for football and basketball. After retiring from MVHS, he taught part-time at Totino-Grace High School for two years. He was a volunteer tax preparer for 14 years. Our Dad taught us well throughout our lives, and we have the greatest respect and gratitude for him. We will forever look up to him and hold his memory dear in our hearts. Survived by daughters Mary (Frank) Stulock, Michele (Paul) O'Neill, Maureen (Jeff) Brenk, Susan (Steve) Vnoucek; grandchildren Julia (Bruce) Danielson, Joe (Katie) Stulock, Kristin (Andy) Brandl, Mike (JoAnn) Brenk; Rachel (Mike) Doran; Jim Brenk: great-grandchildren Anna Kate, Ryan & Lainey Brandl; Katie & Lucy Brenk, Veronica Doran; brothers Pat (Sonia) and Tom (Shirley) McManus; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy Jorgensen, Sally & Dan Reinert, Rich & Eloise Smith. Thank you to the staff at St. Therese at Oxbow Lake for their compassionate care of our father. Visitation at Washburn-McReavy, 5125 W. Broadway, Crystal, from 3-6 PM on Sunday, July 26 (TODAY). Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Raphael, 7801 Bass Lake Rd., Crystal, on Monday, July 27, 11 am, with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal. Age 73 of Bloomington died peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep on July 12, 2015. Preceded in death by parents, Matthew Jr. and Victoria (Bach) Metzger; and brother, Victorian. Survived by loving wife, Connie Christie; brothers, Matthew of Deer River, MN and Dr. Franz (Carol) Metzger of Edina; sister, Mary Katherine Heinz of Burnsville; many other loving relatives and friends. He attended Christ the King grade school, Southwest and DeLaSalle high schools and graduated from the University of MN. John proudly served in the USMC for 4 years. Past President & Honorary Member of the Apollo Club of Mpls for 46 years. He was a genuine professional in the wholesale wine & spirits industry for 50 plus years. Distinguished active member of Everett McClay VFW serving in the notable Honor Guard, also a member of the American Legion. Age 77 of White Bear Lake Passed Away Peacefully on July 17, 2015 Karen always created fun times with her family, which was the most important thing to her. Was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanie Marie and husband, Robert M. Meyer. Will be dearly missed by her children, Carey (Larry) Larson, Robbie (Sherrie) Meyer, Michael Meyer, and Christine (Terry) Phinney; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean, Helen, Kathy and Lynn; and many other family and friends.
