HUBMAN, Lorna Ann  
"Muff" Age 83, of White Bear Lake Passed away July 1, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; parents Rose & Robert Cheska. Survived by daughters, Nancy Zuk, Karen Isaak, and Kathy Hubman; two grandsons, Brandon (Rebekkah) Bahneman, and Brady (Janis Flug) Bahneman; brother, Dick (Gloria) Cheska; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. HUGHES, Jerome M. "Jerry"  
Age 85 of Maplewood Died on June 26, 2015 Born on October 1, 1929 He was an educator, legislator and President of the MN Senate. Passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Preceded in death by his wife Audrey (Lackner); parents Michael and Mae Hughes; sisters Cleo and Patricia; brothers John and Steven. Survived by his sister Maxine (Johnson) Schmidt of Arizona; six children, Bernadine (Bill) Leach, Timothy (Diane Young), Kathleen (Glenn) LaChapelle, Rosemarie (Scott) Hughes Wilhelmy, Margaret (John) Towle, and John K. (Ellen); 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children. Hughes was elected to the Senate in 1966 and served for 26 years with 5 different Governors. He became chair of the education committee in 1973 and was elected President of the Senate in 1983, a position he would hold - save for during a special session in 1987 - for the remainder of his time in office. He retired from the Senate in 1993. He served on the Elections and Ethics, Education, Finance, and Rules and Administration Committees. He was most proud of his accomplishments with securing the funding and passing legislation to start the first Early Childhood and Family Education programs. He was a teacher, counselor and coach at Monroe and Johnson High Schools, community education administrator, Education and Public Policy Consultant for the St. Paul School District and served as a Graduate Faculty Member at the University of Minnesota. He is a graduate of Cretin High School, class of 1947, received his B.A. from the College of St. Thomas, M.A. from the University of Minnesota and his Doctorate from Wayne State University in Detroit. In his own words, "I've had a great life." In his children's words, "Dad taught us how to live and how to die, with great character, graciousness and dignity. He was a class act. We are blessed to have had him for our father." Mass of Christian Burial TOMORROW 2PM Wednesday, July 1st at Church of the Assumption (51 W. 7th St., St. Paul). Visitation 4-8 PM TODAY Tuesday, June 30th at Roseville Memorial Chapel (2245 Hamline Ave. N., Roseville 651-631-2727) and also one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Jerome and Audrey Hughes Endowed Scholarship in Graduate Education Fund at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.

HUSBY, Jerome "Jerry"  
Age 69 of Shoreview Died Friday June 26, 2015 at his home. Jerry was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and Member of the American Legion Post #566 – Lino Lakes. He was a loving husband and father and a great neighbor and friend. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Arlene (Heitkamp) Husby of Montevideo, MN. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nancy (nee Willis); 2 children, Jan Michael (Mitze Kile) Husby and Wendy (Randy Pieper) Husby; 1 grandson, Aksel Husby; and 2 siblings, Marie (Howard) Johnson and Dale (Pam) Husby. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday July 2 at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 5472 Adams St., Mounds View (Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 AM). Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Age 74 of Birchwood Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, passed away on June 29th, 2015. Survived by wife, Marilyn; children, Greg (Cindy), Debbie (Cliff) Young; grandchildren, Alex, Casey, Ethan, Chris, Jennifer, Sarah; great grandchildren, Cannon, Maks, Opal; siblings, Ron (Barb), Jim (Jane), Tom (Teresa), Kathy (Paul) Rockey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. JOHANSEN, Hans Nels "Bud"  
Age 88, of Hayward, WI Died Monday, June 29, 2015, the birthday of his wife Pauline. Hans Nels Johansen was born August 7, 1926 in Alta, IA the son of Margarette (Jimmerson) and Hans F. Johansen. He was joined in marriage to Pauline Kohns on August 25, 1947. Bud and Pauline lived, worked, and raised their family in Mahtomedi, MN. He retired from the city of Arden Hills after a long career in Public Works. In retirement, Bud and Pauline moved to the Hayward area where they enjoyed many years fishing, hunting and sharing their haven in the woods with many friends and relatives while never passing up a game of cards. Bud will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick wit, love of family and the ability to tell a story like no other. He will be missed by his family and many friends and neighbors. He is survived by his children Patricia Johansen-Strain of Minneapolis, MN, Charles (Mary) of Hayward, WI, Jinny Fischer of Forest Lake, MN, Denice (Duff) Melhus of Hayward, WI; grandchildren Brian (Kari) Fischer, Kelly (Megan) Johansen, Andrea (Ken) Ponto, Jessica (John) Hutchison, Luke Johansen and Arica Johansen; 4 Great-grandchildren; special friend Marion Moyer of Hayward; many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline; sons-in-law Dennis Strain and Mike Fischer. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staffs of Hayward Area Regional Hospice and Heart of Compassion Hands to Serve (HCHS) for the wonderful care they provided Bud, allowing him to remain in his home.
