Asa Biehl GROVES Jr.

Age 88 Passed away March 21st, 2013 with his wife Una and daughter Reggie by his side at Reggie's home in Minnesota. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin July 30, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. Asa B. Groves Sr Maple Bluff; attended Todd School for Boys Woodstock, Illinois, graduated from White Plains Sr. High, N.Y. in 1942; started Northwestern University, Evanston, IL where, in his freshman year, he enlisted into the Navy, serving on the USS McCaffery (destroyer) until the war ended. He then returned to graduate from N.U. Law School in 1948. He joined the Congressional office of The Honorable Marguerite Stitt Church, 13th District, Illinois in Washington, D.C., and married Una Corley of Evanston, IL in 1952. After 4 years they moved to Miami, Florida and had 3 children, Asa Biehl Groves III, Regina Eunice and Robert Corley, and he spent 40 years in the mortgage banking business - including V.P. and Asst. to the President of Federal Title Ins. Co., partner in Washington Security & Ins. Co., and President of Housing Investment Corp. In 1980 he founded Groves Enterprises - - the umbrella company for The Westbrook Homes Group of Companies from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of Coral Reef Yacht Club, Miami, from 1960 until he moved to Minnesota in 2007 where he joined Dellwood Country Club. With his wife Una, his son Asa III (Denise) and daughter Reggie, he also leaves 3 grandchildren-Corley Alexandra Groves, John Wesley Groves II and Robert Vaughan Gelly. Burial will be in Woodland Park Cemetery South (Miami) next to his son Robert Corley who passed away in 1988. All services private. 612-825-2435
