Barbara Zoubek YEAKEL

Passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2012 in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 91 Preceded in death by parents Reverend Frank and Margaret Zoubek, former husband Earl L.Yeakel, Jr of Austin, TX, brothers Frank, Charles and Philip Zoubek. Survived by children Margaret Yeakel-Twum, Barbara Coe of Plano, TX, Philip Yeakel (Linda) and Peter Yeakel (Leila Bussman); grandchildren Vanessa Yeakel, Max Twum, KC and Katie Coe, Brian, John, Eric, Mark and Lana Yeakel; great grandson Xavier Yeakel and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and other treasured family members. Born in Faribault, MN on August 8, 1921 she grew up in St. Paul. She was a graduate of Oak Hall girl's school on Holly Lane in St. Paul and later attended the University of MN. She graduated with a Nursing degree in 1944 and was a member of the WWII Cadet Nursing Corps, serving her country in Korea as a First Lieutenant. Riding out a typhoon on the maiden voyage of the hospital ship The Repose in 1945 on the way to Okinawa was a story often shared. Passionate about gardening, knitting, quilting and her family, she took great pride in all that she did. A burial in the spring at Maplelawn Cemetery in Faribault is planned.
