Age 95 ~ Of St. Paul Betty went home to heaven on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. She was a devoted Irish mother, a grandmother, and a dear friend. She cherished her family and cared for people her whole life. Betty's life of service was an example of how to live a meaningful life. She prayed daily to Jesus, Mary and St. Anne. Her faith in a loving God gave her comfort and strength, especially with the passing of her daughter Mary Jo and son Michael in 2013. Betty volunteered at the Good Samaritan Home in Roseville for 28 years and cared for 17 neighborhood children in retirement. She loved children and valued education. Betty and Mary Jo shared a love of baseball, football and basketball. Both were loyal Twins fans. Betty waited patiently for Hollywood to call her and her ship to come in. She was just fun and very lucky at fishing and the African Diamond penny slots. Betty was "tremendous". In addition to her children, she was preceded in death by her husband Tom. Survived by daughter Pat and granddaughter Oona Peterson, daughter-in-law Lyn, grandson Matthew (Jennifer) and great grandchildren Rori and Ronan, sisters-in-law Kay and Irene, wonderful nieces and nephews and her darling friends and angels. The Mass to celebrate God's love for Betty will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, at 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM at the Church of St. Stanislaus, 398 Superior St (north of St. Clair and West 7th St.) in St. Paul. Private interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Joseph's Home for Children, 1121 E 46th St, Mpls., MN 55407.
