Donald C. BORRMAN

Age 87 Formerly of Edina, MN Passed away peacefully at Parkwood Shores in St. Louis Park on Oct. 2, 2013. Don was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Emma Borrman. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Nemitz); son, Bruce (Cindy); daughter, Barbara Post (Bill); son, Bradley (Ginny); and 7 wonderful grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, Michael, Matthew, Erik, Ben and Britta who were always very special to him. Don was born on May 27, 1926 in Mpls, MN, and graduated in 1944 from Washburn H.S. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and later attended Macalester College and the Univ. of MN where he graduated with a Business degree in 1950. In 1952, he went to work at the Walker Art Center where he was the Administrative Director until his retirement in 1986. He consulted at the Walker for an additional 5 years and oversaw the construction of the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden. Don was an active and longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. When he wasn't enjoying and attending the many activities of his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed watching Twins baseball and Gopher sports. He and his wife Marjorie loved spending time at their lake home on the North Shore of Lake Superior and traveling to Hawaii and Europe. He was always a very proper, kind, thoughtful and humble man who was an inspiration to his family and others, and will be greatly missed. Special thank you to the staff of Reflections at Parkwood Shores for their loving care. Memorials are preferred to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial service 11:00AM Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3801 Wooddale Ave. So, St. Louis Park.
