Eva Mildred Mykleby PEARSON

Age 92 Died on April 20, 2013 at Johanna Shores Care Center. Preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, and son, Roger. Survived by sons Michael & wife Gayl of New Orleans, LA; Jerry & wife Dairine of Santa Barbara, CA; Harlan & wife Ginny of Minneapolis, MN, and daughter-in-law Carol of New York City, NY; grandchildren Lee, A.J., Alexander, Nadine, Carl, Roy, and Eric; and great-grandchildren Emma, Ella, and Vance. Also survived by her sister Opal Hedberg and brothers Forrest, Don, and Laurie Mykleby and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hillard and Ray Mykleby. Eva was born in Eldred, MN. She graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture at the Crookston Agricultural School, then attended the University of Minnesota and later graduated in 1956 with a degree in Human Ecology. Eva and her husband Mel were married for 58 years. They lived in St. Anthony Park for 34 years where they raised their 4 sons, before moving to Roseville. After the death of Mel in 2000, Eva returned to the Park and lived in a Luther Place condominium for 10 years. Eva's travels brought her to Japan, Ireland, Mexico, and India, but she especially appreciated visits to Scandinavia because of her Norwegian heritage. She was a lecturer and researcher on genealogy and the Viking kings. After compiling a genealogy of her family (I Remember, I Remember! Your Viking Heritage), she researched and wrote a book on the history of the Viking kings, They Did Not Have Horns: The Viking Kings of Norway, along with a genealogical chart of the kings. She loved sharing her knowledge with family and friends. Memorial service Friday, April 26, 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church, 2323 Como Ave. West, St. Paul, MN with Visitation at SAP Church at 10:00 AM. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church.
