Age 104 ½ Longtime West Side Resident Born August 8, 1908 in Grantsburg, WI. Moved to the west side of St. Paul in childhood and resided there and in West St. Paul throughout his life. Died February 1, 2013 at his home at Westwood Ridge Apartments in W. St. Paul. Son of Franklin and Alma (Gulberg) Reitz. Preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Marjorie Elizabeth Gould Reitz; daughter Claudia; brothers Martin (Gladys) and Clair (Sally) Reitz; and sisters Juanita Asbury (Steve) and Dulcy Fleischhaker (Bernard). Survived by his daughter Sandra Wilson (Brian Steen); and son Jeffrey Reitz (Donna); grandchildren Jennifer Petersen (Tim), and Robert Wilson; and great grandchildren Brendan, Meaghan, and Kevin Petersen; and Justin and Hailey Wilson; five nieces and nephews and their children. Mr. Reitz graduated from St. Paul Vocational High School's then-new architectural drafting program and for 25 years worked at the Lampland Lumber Company, during which time he created the plans for many residences and re-designed the interiors of several large department stores and other commercial buildings in St. Paul. With George Calander he established Calander Kitchens and remodeled kitchens and baths throughout the area. He was a member of the Masonic Order for 74 years. He was known for his artistic skills, his story telling, and his wonderful sense of humor -- something he maintained until just a few days before his death. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service 11AM, Friday, February 8, 2013 with visitation 1 hour prior to service at ST.
