Loving Husband, Dad Grandpa, Brother, Son Age 67, of Birchwood Village passed away July 3, 2014 at home after a brave battle with cancer. Preceded in death by father Donald. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Shirley; mother Jean; children Carrie (Mike) Ford and Nicole (Ty McBee) Donovan; siblings Shelly (Mark) Rueckert and Steve (Ann) Donovan; sister-in-law Sharon Lyons; adored grandchildren Lily Catherine and Mila Jean Ford; along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Greg was a graduate of Roseville (Alexander Ramsey) High School class of 1965. He served six years in the Army National Guard in Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Over the last decade, Greg was dedicated to the enhancement of his local community. Greg was the Birchwood representative on White Bear Lake Conservation District and Ramsey/ Washington Suburban Cable Commission, along with being a City Council Member for the City of Birchwood Village. In these roles he worked tirelessly to foster collaborative solutions in connection with lake/docks use rights, cable franchise renewal, road improvements and the successful transition of the City's staffing. He also enjoyed being the coffee ambassador at the annual parade. He was recently blessed with grandchildren that brought him great joy. He focused much of his remaining energy on spending time with his little girls. He will always hold a special place in their hearts. Greg's warmth and humility left a mark on all who met him, and he will be dearly missed by all. Memorial service Friday, July 11, 2014, 1PM at Arlington Hills Methodist Church, 759 County Road B, Maplewood, with visitation 2 hours prior to service at church. 651-429-7661
