Holly A. (Mars) SCANLAN

Age 49 Beloved wife of Tim Scanlan, mother of Ryan, Meaghan, and Connor Scanlan, and devoted friend to so many, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Monday, November 19, at Yale Hospital in New Haven, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born December 23rd, 1962 in St. Paul Minnesota, Holly was the oldest of three children of Leon and Virginia Mars, of Woodbury MN. She grew up in the Twin Cities and attended the University of Minnesota. Holly and Tim were married August 23rd, 1986, and had three children, Ryan, Meaghan, and Connor. When Tim's career brought the family out east to Burlington, CT, it was Holly's warm and knowing touch that formed the cornerstone for their new home. She became an active member of the community, organizing Little League fundraisers, supporting local school and public projects, volunteering for the Red Cross and lending a hand whenever and wherever she could. Holly loved to attend her children's school and sporting events, spend time with her wonderful friends, travel the world with Tim and her kids, and enjoyed cooking, entertaining, attending the theatre, museums, restaurants, and fine wine. Holly recently took up pottery and created beautiful works for her family and friends. Her grace and livelihood won her a vast network of lifelong friends. Throughout her battle with cancer, Holly never lost her courage and conviction that have always defined her. Holly is survived by her husband Tim Scanlan, children Ryan, Meaghan, and Connor, all of Burlington, CT. Her father Leon Mars, 70, mother Virginia (Anderle) Mars, sister Valerie and husband Richard Kennedy of Woodbury, MN, brother Jason Mars and his partner Lisa Lanik of Newport, MN. Her father-in-law Jerome E. Scanlan and mother-in-law Rosemary (Ryan) Scanlan of Cottage Grove, brother-in-law Jerome Scanlan of St. Paul, sister-in-law Liz Kroschel and her husband Jon Kroschel of Afton, MN, brother-in-law Tom Scanlan and his wife Gigi of Woodbury, MN, sister-in-law Loretta Steineck and her husband David Steineck of Cottage Grove, MN, brother-in-law Jim Scanlan and his wife Cyndy of East Grand Forks, ND, sister-in-law Moira Olson and her husband Bill Olson of Duluth, MN, sister-in-law Megan Lescarbeau and her husband Bucky Lescarbeau of Chisholm, MN, sister-in-law Kathleen Woolery and her husband Craig Woolery of Cottage Grove, MN, sister-in-law Jeanne Doyle and her husband Marty Doyle of St. Paul, MN, sister-in-law, Patty Scanlan-Russonello of Cottage Grove, MN and 41 nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionvile on Tuesday (Nov. 27) from 4:00-8:00pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday (Nov. 28) at 11:00am in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville.
