Ione Adamson

Adamson, Ione Myrtle Anna Age 87 Always with a smile, good heart, and gratitude, Ione lived for the past 5 years in Minneapolis at the Augustana Apartments/Healthcare Center, where she made many friends, and stayed active. Prior to that, she lived in St. Paul for 30+ years, with husband Chester P. Adamson, who passed away in 2001. They were married for 52 good years. Ione grew up in Minneapolis, and was a long time member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. As a beautiful young woman, she modeled, worked as a private secretary, and was a Wedding Consultant at Dayton's Bridal Shop. Later, she worked for Sears, and was the first woman to sell big-ticket furniture. She learned about furniture from her father's furniture store in downtown Minneapolis- Romsaas Furniture, as well as from her brothers, Ray, Elwood and John who were excellent mentors and furniture men. Her step son David, at the time a Sears executive on the West Coast, was also thrilled by her sales success. Ione and Chester enjoyed the outdoors, and fishing in Wisconsin, Florida, and of course Minnesota. She was great at ice fishing. Her family will remember her for her Divinity & Spritz Holiday cookies. Her mother, Myrtle and father, Emil Romsaas; brother, Elwood and sister-in-law, Mary; brother, Raymond and sister-in-law, Marge precede her in death. Ione is survived by her brother, John and sister-in-law, Marilyn Romsaas, cousins, loving nieces, nephews, in and around the Twin Cities, and a stepson David Flesner and wife, Christine, grandchildren, Susan and Devin, and granddaughter Rachel, loving family in San Diego, CA and special friend Kristi Bell, who helped Ione greatly in her final years.
