Jean Beazley CLARY

Age 89 of St. Paul Passed away on February 14, 2014 Jean lived in South Orange, NJ until graduating from the College of William and Mary with a BA in English, 1946. She earned a Phi Beta Kappa award. Twenty years later, she continued her education at the University of Minnesota, earning a BS degree in Education and membership in the Honorary Education Society of Pi Lambda Theta. Following this graduation, she spent eighteen years teaching in the inner city of Minneapolis in elementary schools. In St. Paul, MN Jean was active in her church, St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and worked with a senior organization, writing articles for DART magazine describing senior activities. After retirement from teaching, she volunteered at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in the Education Department, visiting schools to interest the faculties in the programs offered by the Museum. She joined the Board of the Minneapolis Friends of the Institute and also, the Decorative Arts Council. Jean moved to Fearrington Village, N.C. with her husband Grayson in 1987. She continued her interest in the Arts by volunteering as a Docent for the Ackland Art Museum, working with their education program for seven years. In recent years, she was active in the American Association of University Women with a particular interest in the problems of the aging population. Preceded in death by husband of 67 years. Her family includes sons, Bradley (Mary-Louise) and Richard (Suzanne); grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel, Grayson and Taryn Clary. Memorial service Saturday, March 29th, 2PM at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 Kent St., St. Paul. Inurnment St. John's Columbarium. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church or Minneapolis Institute of the Arts. 651-698-0796
