Kenneth A. "Ken" KORNGABLE

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather Entered his heavenly home on May 10, 2013. Ken was born in St. Paul, MN, to Henry and Clara Korngable. He graduated from Johnson High School and joined the Marines where he served his country with distinction, valor and honor in the Korean War earning a Bronze Medal with Combat "V" and commendations with recognition from the Commandant of the Marine Corps and other citations. He was a loving, devoted husband, exemplary father and grandfather. He first married the love of his life, Jeanne Strom enjoying a 24-year marriage with their four children until her death from MS complications. He provided more than 14 years of loving care to her as he balanced life raising his family and working full time. He led by strong example and supported his children in reaching their dreams. He worked 35 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad and retired as office manager after relocating to Texas in 1984 where he met the second love of his life, Ruth Kight Higgins. They built a home and enjoyed life in Fort Worth sharing many wonderful times together. Ken loved golfing with his friends and annual fishing trips with his family in MN. He enjoyed all sports; his knowledge of recent/past players and statistics was amazing. He was a wonderful grandfather and enjoyed following their sports, activities and giving them his unconditional love and encouragement. He was a strong but caring, soft-spoken gentle man who never spoke ill of anyone. He was a committed Christian with a heart of mercy giving generously to those he felt needed help. He was devoted to his church, serving as usher and in the Loaves and Fishes ministry. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was our family's hero. He was preceeded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Ann and brother, Hank. Left to cherish his memory forever are his loving wife of 27 years, Ruth Kight Korngable, and her son, Kight Higgins (Cindi) and their children, Shannon, Brooke and Dalton, of Fort Worth; daughter, Barbara; son, Steven (Mary) and granddaughters, Margie Warnemunde (Dan) and great-grandson, Cole; Jeannie (Tom) Bril; daughter, Lea Ann Homdrom (Jerry); son, David (Kris) and granddaughters, Emma and Olivia; brother, Loring; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Susan Reese and many nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured, lifelong friends Richard and Phyllis Nowicki. Funeral service Tuesday 11:00 a.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1154 Seminole Ave, W. St. Paul. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the National MS Society, Upper Midwest Chapter. 651-222-3220
