Libby Ann KENNEY

Age 95 Of St. Paul Formerly of Thousand Oaks, CA. died peacefully on October 20 at Carondelet Village in St. Paul. Preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings and by her husband of 46 years, George William Kenney, Jr. Survived by her four children and their families: Dan (Maureen), Mary (Andy McCue), Mike (Kristy) and Anne (Jim Ryan) and 7 grandchildren. Born in Wells, MN in 1918 to Amanda and Henry Dols, Libby grew up in Chaska and Minneapolis, attending Holy Name Grade School and South High School. She met George Kenney at age 14 and they were married November 8, 1941. They lived in Cleveland during the war while George was serving in Army Ordinance, then moved in 1948 to the San Fernando Valley in California. As a homemaker, her life was filled with volunteer work in her parishes and her children's schools. Libby was widowed at age 69 and enjoyed a second, independent lifestyle for the past 26 years. Libby returned to St. Paul in 2008 to be closer to daughter Anne and her family. She resided first at Rosewood Estates assisted living before moving to the Care Center at Carondelet Village in February 2013, where she was happy and at peace living with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, her spiritual needs satisfied. Her family wishes to thank her caregivers at both residences, especially Zam Zam Shooteh at Rosewood and the nursing staff at Carondelet Village for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Carondelet Village. Mass of Christian Burial at the chapel at Carondelet Village (525 Fairview Ave. S, St. Paul) on Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 p.m., Visitation one hour prior and luncheon served after Mass.
