Margaret Constance FASTNER

(Thorsett) Age 97 of the Anoka Care Center Margaret went to be with the Lord & many loved ones, the morning of March 6, 2013. Born July 31, 1915 to Elias and Caroline (Nelson) Thorsett, in Sarles, ND. Margaret married Frank Russell Jr. on May 14, 1938. Frank died shortly after in August 1938, leaving her with a beautiful daughter born March 2, 1939. Margaret remarried on August 15, 1944 to Edward Fastner. Margaret's career extended from a teacher in a 1 room school house, to working on the bombers in WWII. She worked at Cummins Diesel, the Met Center for the North Stars, to finally retiring with the Wilder Foundation. In 1969, Margaret lost her husband, Edward and only daughter, Carolyn. She took on the huge task of helping to raise her 3 grandchildren, who are grateful to of had her in their lives. Margaret is also preceded in death by her sister, Florence Opheim & brothers, Clifford, Elmer, Morley, & Donald Thorsett. Margaret will be forever missed by her grandchildren, John Connett, Bruce Connett and Carol (Irvin) LaFountaine; great grandchildren; Chris, Donald, Nick, Sean, Nicole, Jessica, Stephanie & Edward; great great grandchildren, Lily, Samuel, Logan & Elias. Margaret is also survived by 2 sister in-laws Rose and Grace Thorsett, many nieces, nephews and friends. Thank you caregivers at Anoka Care Center & her HealthEast Hospice team, she truly loved you all. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 14th at the Spielman Mortuary 344 W. University Ave. St. Paul with a gathering of friends from 6-7 pm. Memorials preferred.
