Age 87 Of Mendota Heights Died on Sunday (her favorite day) surrounded by her children while praying the Hail Mary (her favorite prayer). Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Frank, cherished daughter Meg and only sister Colleen (Greeley) Lydon. Peggy is survived by 11 children: Molly Ashcraft (Dave), Timothy (Diane), Missy Smith (Ted), Terrence, Thaddeus, Tom, Colleen Roberts (Mark), Todd (Tiffany), Toby (Jenny), Ted (Cara) and Monica Reinholz (Greg), 37 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Peggy Madden will be remembered first and foremost as the beloved matriarch of the Madden clan. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in St. Paul and upon retirement joined St. Peters in Mendota and St. John the Evangelist in Naples Florida. She was past president of the Guild of Catholic Women. Peggy took pride as a devoted Lay Carmelite. She also had a special interest in the arts and worked as a docent for the Minnesota Museum of Modern Art and as a docent in Naples. She enjoyed travel, theater, movies, reading and holding court with her children and grandchildren. A Eucharistic celebration of life will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Mendota on Saturday, March 29, at 10am, with visitation starting at 9am. A visitation will also be held on Friday March 28, from 5pm - 8pm at O'Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home at 575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul 55116, 651/698-0796. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery following lunch. Memorials preferred to Cretin-Derham Hall Frank T. Madden Scholarship fund.
