Passed away on December 29, 2013, in Cottage Grove, MN. She was born on March 28, 1930, in Watertown, South Dakota, to G. Paul Pitt and Claire Pitt. Marilyn graduated from Watertown High School in 1949, then attended art school in Colorado. Marilyn married Theodore Peters on September 17, 1950, in Watertown. They were happily married for 63 years. Marilyn loved gardening and won awards for her beautiful gardens. She maintained a life-long interest in art, specializing in pastel portraits of cats. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Theodore, of Cottage Grove; sons Charles, of Santa Cruz, CA; Eric, of River Falls, WI; Jay, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Douglas, of Manchester, MO; and Andrew, of Maple Valley, WA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A memorial service was held at White Pine Memory Care in Cottage Grove on January 3, 2014. Marilyn's remains were inurned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on January 8, 2014.
