Marilyn L. (Merry) HARTIG

Born in Minneapoils on July 6, 1932 Passed Away on November 24, 2012 Preceded in death by her mother, Lucile Speakman Johnson and father, Russel Marvin Johnson of Minneapolis. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years Paul R. Hartig M.D., and her adored children and grandchildren: daughter, Betsy McKiel (Dr. Charles), son Steven, son John (Christa) and grandchildren Molly, Charlie and Jenny McKiel, and Michael and Lauren Hartig. She was a 1950 graduate of the University of Minnesota. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. She treasured her friends, her Scandinavian roots and her life as a wife and mother. She spent many years afflicted with asthma and sulfite sensitivity, and taught countless people about the perils of chemical preservatives in food and in the environment. She said she fought a lifelong battle with chronic illness and had a love/hate relationship with prednisone. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church radio ministry or donor's choice. Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1 PM at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 50th St. & Knox Ave. S., Mpls. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
