Age 59 went directly to heaven on Monday, January 28. She was a remarkable woman, a dedicated kindergarten teacher and a beloved daughter of Betty Cummings. Mary Jo and Betty were best friends who shared a commitment to serve others, a love of baseball and frequent adventures. Mary Jo enjoyed over 37 years of teaching and caring for children and their families. She believed in each child's potential and worked hard to nurture their confidence and joy of life. She promoted the Minnesota Twins' school programs for decades. In her spare time, she managed her business, Cummings Cottage Originals. Mary Jo was an original. Mary Jo is also survived by her brother Mike (Lyn), sister Patty Kay, niece Oona Peterson, nephew Matt Cummings & family, aunt Kay and Irene, the Cummings cousins, friends, her current kindergarten class at JFK Elementary, students whom she tutored and hundreds of former students.
