Mary L. Peyton was the ninth of ten children born to the late Abron and Ida Wells on June 26, 1930 in Copiah County, Mississippi. Mary married Elvia Peyton, Jr. on February 24, 1954. The following year they moved to Minnesota to pursue their careers and raise their family of three daughters. After working for 25 years with St. Paul Public Schools, Mary retired as a clerk typist. She then had more time to do the things she enjoyed such as playing bridge, cooking, baking, sports, and fishing. Mary departed this life on Friday, November 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings. Memories will live on in the hearts of her daughters Gwen (Edward) Jackson of Lakeville, MN, Cynthia Peyton and Pam Peyton of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Dalante Peyton and Kenyatta Peyton; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Wednesday, Nov. 14 11AM with visitation at 10 AM at St. Paul Reformation Church, 100 North Oxford St., St. Paul.
