Nancy S. WALD

Age 77 of Richfield, Minnesota. Survived by son Steve Wald and wife Patti Goertzen; daughters Beth Wald & Jessica (Brad Piehl) Wald; and grandchildren Natasha & Peter Wald and Sam, Tessa & Jenna Piehl. Preceded in death by Gary Wald, her loving husband of 53 years. Nancy was a graduate of St. Louis Park High School (1953) and St. Catherine University (1957). She also completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Minnesota, where she found her calling as a potter. Her beautiful ceramics enlivened the tables and homes of countless Minnesotans. Nancy served for many years on the board of the Minnesota Crafts Council, and was very active at St. Francis Cabrini where she was part of the Liturgy committee, and designed banners for the church. Nancy was passionate about the outdoors and an enthusiastic athlete. With her husband Gary, family and friends, she made numerous canoe trips to the BWCAW, backpacking and camping trips in the Western USA, and bicycle tours of Europe. She was a supporter of the Nature Conservancy and will be remembered for her love of pottery and other arts, theater, cooking and gardening, running and Nordic skiing, hosting vibrant dinners and other gatherings for family and friends. Mass and Celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, April 27 at The Church of St. Francis Cabrini, 1500 Franklin Ave. SE., Minneapolis, with a visitation beginning an hour before the service.
