Shirley Audrey HUNTER

Beloved Mother & Grandma Age 86 of St. Paul Mom passed away peacefully after a short illness. Preceded in death by husband, Duane; & parents, Arthur & Alma Swanstrom. Survived by her children, Jeff, Craig (Monica), Vickie (Mark) Preuss, and Julie (Skip) Weller; grandchildren, Wayne (Lynnaya), Gary (Maria), Kristen Bjorkman, Lindsay and Reese Hunter, Angela and Jackie Weller; great-grand daughter, Elly, and dear friend, Kathleen. Except for a few short years in Lake Bronson Minnesota, where her dad Arthur worked on WPA projects, Shirley was a life-long St. Paulite, and proud of it. A 1945 graduate of St. Paul Central High School, Shirley also attended the University of Minnesota. Shirley will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her beautiful smile, and her kind and loving heart. Shirley was known for her poem "Don't Take Life for Granted", was a lifetime member of The Rainbow Chapter Eastern Star, and a member of the Twin Cities Business Women's Association. Having lived 56 years with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, Shirley became a role model to many people who also suffered from the disease, and an inspiration for hope to those health care providers who were fortunate enough to know her. She was an amazing woman and will be terribly missed. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Thursday, Nov 29, 2012 at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul. Friends and family may gather at 6:00 with a service at 7:00. Memorials preferred. 651-228-1006
