Douglas PIHLSTROM Obituary

Age 74 Originally of the Twin Cities Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on December 22, 2013 in Lake Anna, VA. Preceded in death by parents, Mel and Sally; and his daughter, Annemarie. Doug owned and operated several transportation related companies in the Twin Cities for more than 40 years, retiring to Lake Anna, VA in 2005. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jo (Mantel); children, Susan (Roy) Ramthun of Silver Spring, MD and Michael Pihlstrom of Glen Ellyn, IL; 5 grandchildren; his brother, Stuart (Margery) Pihlstrom; sister, Carlene (Mike) Ozonoff; and many nieces and nephews. He attended St. Thomas Academy and Robbinsdale H.S. (1957) and he served in the United States Army (post Korean War). He enjoyed his classic cars and attending car shows throughout the country. In his final months, he greatly appreciated the presence of his family and friends, working on cars, and playing bridge and cribbage. A memorial service will take place in Lake Anna, VA and at a later time private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. It has been along time since I lived at 1193 Laurel Ave., but I still remember borrowing his dads chevy truck,putting it up on jacks to reverse the mileage so we didn't get having our joy ride. Larry Mc Mahon
