Edward HAIDER Obituary

Age 96, of Roseville Passed away peacefully on 1/9/18 Survived by sons, Jim (Mary) and Tom (Teresa); grandchildren, Nora and Jimmy; siblings, Rich and Wally; special friend, Bonnie; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was a proud veteran of WW II during which he was awarded a Bronze Star for bravery and multiple Purple Hearts for wounds suffered in combat. Ed was captured during the invasion of Sicily and wrote a memoir of his time as a German prisoner of war titled, "Blood in Our Boots." He was also one of the last engineers of steam driven passenger locomotives during a railroad career of nearly 40 years. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, January 17 at ST. ROSE OF LIMA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2048 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation 9-10 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred.
