I am very sorry for your loss Connolly family. I appreciated Johns willingness to help others and to answer any and all questions regarding the legal system. Especially when he told me that in any case in which I handle myself at court, that I am the Attorney of Record. John was very gracious with his time and support. We will all miss him. Again my prayers to the entire Connolly family.

Judge Connolly was a thoughtful and caring man who was a credit to his profession and our community. Along with many in the Ramsey County probation office who worked with him over many years, I note his passing with sadness. Sadness at the loss to his family, his friends and all who worked with and respected him. His laugh was infectious, his curiosity endless, and his greeting full of warmth. Chief Judge Harold Schultz once said the greatest single quality any judge could have was kindness. John Connolly personified that quality. He was a kind judge and kind man. May he rest in peace.

I am saddened to hear the news of Judge Connolly's passing. I was his last law clerk when he was on the bench in Ramsey County and he was my first mentor in the legal profession. He had the strongest work ethic of any person I have ever known and was compassionate and caring towards others. My condolences to the Connolly family.

John was the kind of man who really knew how to take care of people, me being one of them i was so proud to be able to also help him out in other ways. We go way back, but still I'm able to remember many fond memories of him an the boys an the hockey rink so happy We shared life. John einfeldt

As a young student and attorney I had the honor and privilege of working for and appearing in front of Judge Connolly. He taught me a lot and the evidence books he gave me I still use. I will miss his booming voice and great chuckle. I am sure he is holding court with the other great iconic Judges from Ramsey County. My sympathy to his family and friends.

Condolences to the Connolly family. John was a friend and advocate for social justice. He was an active supporter of his college friend U.S Senator, Eugene McCarthy, against the war in Vietnam.

All manner of pleasant thoughts and memories of a fine gentleman who was filled with fellowship, affection, concern and empathy for all of us fortunate enough to have shared precious hours with him. John's pithy wisdom was a breath of fresh air for every one of us in our Monday night gathering. He will be sorely missed, but we will take comfort in his lasting spirit as we soldier on.

Condolences to the Connolly family from the Gabler family. John was a long time friend and my father's campaign manager for Mayor of St. Paul in 1962. He was a very smart, compassionate, hard working, generous and simply very nice man who shared our father's ideals. We will all miss him - a lot.

I had the good fortune of clerking for judge Connolly 20 years ago. Always enjoyed staying in touch with him over the years. Very sad to hear of his passing. I will miss his gentle, kind ways, his enthusiasm, his work ethic and his passion for working on his cases.

There are very few people who enjoyed being a judge more than John Connolly. He was very smart but more importantly he deeply cared about the people who appeared before him. He had a remarkable career dominated by advocacy for those without power. We will miss him.

Sad news to hear this legend has gone to heaven. I had the privilege of working with him for 12 years in Ramsey County until he retired. What a great man. Definitely one of the very best on the bench! Prayers to all his family and many colleagues and friends.
