All my memories of Gary are good ones. I think of him every year when I get the fly rod out, and I think of him when I hear a morning dove in the morning, because growing up we had morning doves around Carey Street in the early 60's, and I would hear them in the mornings while I was hitting stones into the woods with a whiffle bat, waiting for Gary to show up. We would go chipmunk hunting with our bb guns, dig a hole out in the sandy field across from Gary's house and call it a fort. We would go to Moggy (Moccasin Creek) and spend the day sort of like Tom Sawyer, or go to NEPCO Lake, taking our bikes across the train trestle where the expressway is now to save time, bumpier than heck. He was a good guy and a good friend, happy we got some growing-up time together.

We still think of Gary often.
Soft spoken and caring person we were thankful to have in our lives.
He left behind a gift we cherish in his son Derek Robert Sachs!
RIP GARY ♥

Gary was a pleasure to work with and a joy to know. He was always willing to help those that were not as gifted in the IT area. He will be missed by his many friends at Mystic Lake.

Gary was my best friend and neighbor 50 years ago. We made forts in the woods, rode our bikes to the zoo and swimming pool, shot chipmunks with our BB guns. He taught me how to hit left handed pitching and how to use a fly rod to catch bluegills. We spent many summer afternoons going to "Ma-gie creek" or the river. We grew up together, along with other neighbor kids. We had sleep overs in our pup tents, and would go on garden raids. Alot of the kids called him Otto after his dad, who was also a great guy, they later called him "Bags" sort of a play-on Sachs and also a play-on money bags, because Gary had money from his Tribune paper route, with over 100 customers (I was his sub). We spent alot of afternoons waiting for papers at the Tribune also. Gary used the money from his route to buy his first car, which he gave me a ride in when he first got it. Our paths sorta separated after that - he went to Assumption and I went to Lincoln, we hung out with different friends. Now I have grand kids, and nephews who catch bluegills off my dock with the fly rod and I think what a great gift I got from Gary.

A life lost early; though the memories shared will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace and happy fishing.

If Gary ever told the story of when he had to pick dead carp from the Wi river after they were floating for 3 weeks. The story is true, I was in the boat with him. Even with a bad job like that, he was fun to work with.
