Obituary Condolences

Age 67 Of Burnsville, MN Left this world, surrounded by his loving family, to be with his Lord on October 22, 2013 after a brave, determined and heroic battle with lung cancer. The son of Joseph and Viola Slipka, Ken grew up in Roseville, MN graduating from Cretin High School. He then attended the University of Minnesota and Officers Candidate School, serving in the US Army and Minnesota National Guard, last serving as Adjutant General of the 47th Infantry Division. He married Linda Olson in 1973 and resided in Sioux Falls, SD, for several years; before moving to Burnsville in 1979. The majority of Ken's business career was spent in the manufacturing and distribution industry at FORCE America (formerly Mid America Power Drives), a Burnsville-based company. There, he helped grow the company from a small distributor to a national organization with locations throughout the country. He served as General Manager; then President, serving in that role until his retirement. Ken's life was one of service and giving; to God, family, country and community. Through his leadership and serving on advisory and foundation boards within the professional, college and business communities, and many charitable organizations, he unselfishly gave of his time, energy and talents. Ken was a people person and friend to all, and he will be deeply missed by any who know him. His high character and integrity were his trademark. Above all, he was a man with a quiet, but deep and strong faith in Christ. He led by example in all aspects of life through his actions. He leaves his loving wife of 40 years, Linda; mother Viola Slipka, Roseville, MN, daughter Dawn (Vince) Irlbeck, Sanborn, MN and sons Brian (Megan) Slipka, Lino Lakes, MN and Brent (Allison) Slipka, Roseville, MN, grandchildren: Jacob, Brooke, Elizabeth, Elsie, Joshua Kenneth, Joseph and Nora.
