(Charlie) Passed away on June 30, 2012 at the age of 82 at St. John's Hospital, Maplewood. He was surrounded by love and family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children Ginny Stryker Brodeen (Rawley), Sara, John (Michelle), and Robert (Lynne) Stryker, and three granddaughters (and their husbands), and three great grandsons. Charlie Stryker was born in Saint Paul November 19, 1929. He attended SPA and was an exuberant football player and talented (one-eyed) hockey goalie. He graduated from Grinnell College in 1952 and married classmate Barbara Browne that same year. Charlie was a member of the Army Reserves, had a long career as a materials handling equipment designer and salesman, and he and Barb raised a family of four and numerous dogs (including his beloved Annie) during their 60 years together. Charlie loved his friends, dogs, all people, travel, tennis, backgammon, the lake, old Saint Paul, and a good laugh. In his last days, when asked if he felt sad about his condition, he answered: "No, I'm just curious about what my guide has planned for me." A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 600 Kent St., St. Paul, Friday, August 31 at 10am. Memorials preferred to SPA or the Suncoast Animal Shelter 6781 San Casa Drive Englewood, FL 34224.
