57 Years Old Passed Away on December 19, 2012 after a courageous struggle with brain cancer. Preceded in death by father, Anthony Walter Avoles, great-nephew Nicholas, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by beloved mother, Fern Avoles, sister Rita (The Rev. Robert Knutson), brother Charles Avoles (Marjorie) and five nieces and newphews: Rebecca Herrmann (Wayne), Robin Leverton (Keith), Randy Knutson (Jill), Peter Avoles (Katy), and Tony Avoles. Debra was always diligent and energetic in her career, also using her art and graphic design talents in all parts of her life. She loved her family above all, especially the children. She offered support when needed and celebrated every milestone in all of our lives. She kept her sense of humor throughout this past year and continued her practice of singing to family, nurses and her caregivers at the Health Center, creating amusing lyrics to fit the moment. Our special thanks to her physicians, Dr. Kurt Elting-Ballard, Dr. Paul Schanfield, Dr. Mary E. Dunn and Dr. John Schwerkoske for the care they provided for Debra and the guidance they provided to the family throughout these past 10 months. We are grateful to the nurses and staff at United Hospital in St. Paul and the caregivers at the Richfield Health Center who made her feel safe and comfortable, to Allina Hospice and to The Rev. Bob Benke for his many visits, prayers and unfailing spiritual support to Debra and to our family. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 11:00 am at Jehovah Lutheran Church, 1566 Thomas Ave, St Paul, MN 55104. Memorials preferred to Jehovah Lutheran Church.
