Age 83 Of Edina Passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012. Preceded in death by his parents, Ida & Max Binder and Joanie, his wife and best friend of61 years. Survived by his children Jim (Rabbi Zev) & Rochel Binder, Jill & Bob Edelstein, and Jane Binder &Larry Silber; grandchildren Nochum& Shiffy, Mordechai & Shana, Yaakov & Sora, Shani, Sora and Chummie Binder, Shevy & Tanchum Rothschild, Jessi & Jeff Heidelberg, and Emily and Naomi Silber; and great grand-children Raizy, Yitzchok, Sruly, Ari, Chani, Yanky, Rivki, Yitzi, Rivka, Baila, and Nochum Binder, Jake and Ellie Heidelberg. Also survived by his wonderful sister Joan Noun and his nieces Amie, Heidi and Pam and their families. Jay was a successful businessman, owning his own liquor store before joining Mogen David Wine where he ultimately became the Executive Vice President. Missing their Minnesota friends and family, Jay & Joanie returned to Minneapolis in 1979 where Jay started The Binder Edelstein Company, an alcohol beverage sales and marketing company. Jay and Joanie had a wonderful life together which they shared with family and numerous dear friends, traveling the world, eating the finest of food, and enjoying the good life. The family wishes to thank Dr. Burton Schwartz and Michelle Meyer, RN for their compassionate care and friendship to both Joanie and Jay. Funeral service 2:30 pm MONDAY (TODAY) at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Avenue South, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Joan & Jay Binder Special Needs Fund at Temple Israel, or Deikel Transportation Fund at Minneapolis Jewish Family & Children's Service.
