Dear Grandpa,
You have been the most inspirational person in my life and I thank you for all you have taught me. Basketball was just a small portion of what I learned from you. You taught me to be a better person and to always look at the positive things in life. You once wrote me this
"Billy, Believing in yourself and hard work will be the most important things in directing you to success- I believe in you, Billy, and i love you"
I will forever cherish that and the memories with you such as the Twins games and all my sports you attended. I love you so much and you will always be in my heart.

Dear Joe,
I know I should be writing this to the family but I want to talk to YOU! It has been 18 days since you left this crazy world and moved on to the wonderful life that you belong in and deserve more than anyone! I want to say that I am so happy that you left this world the way you wanted. Although, I remember us talking about how you wanted to leave this world eventually ...it seemed like along time away! You have kidded me about always only having only a couple of years left for the last 10 years!! How did you expect me to be ready? Oops, there I go again being me and calling you on the carpet!! Not that you are not use to that from me! Sorry! I don't think either of us ever knew when that would be. Each and every day when you entered and left the bank I would cherish the time we had together and look forward to the next day when we would see each other again. I would look forward to sharing our "thoughts" for that particular day! Whatever those "thoughts" might be on that given day! We both know what that means huh? We never followed any agenda but the words just seem to flow between us and I think we both felt better at the end of each conversation whether it was serious or not we always ended it with a laugh...that was OUR way! I feel so blessed to have had you in my life on a daily basis for so many years! Our relationship will be slightly different now in that I can't see you in body but your wonderful spirit and your "Chip off the old block" will live on in me forever. We will have those same talks and laughs because I can still hear you and you can hear me but I will miss your hugs and seeing your smile! You have been such an inspiration to me and I will always treasure our time together and the wonderful life lessons you have taught me! You are truly an amazing person and I feel so blessed to have had you in my life! I Love you Joe! Patti (the hub)

I first met Joe when I walked into his class my senior year at Lincoln High School (Class of ‘73) I will always remember his class because it was when Watergate was all over the media. Mr. Hutton told us “this is history in the making” so he brought in a TV and all we did in class was watch, right then I knew this was my favorite class and he was my favorite teacher. The next time saw Joe was years later when he owned the marine in Prescott where my dad docked his boat. The last time I saw Joe was at my Mom & Dad’s 60th wedding anniversary party last June. We had a good conversation about how people come and go into each others lives. God bless Joe and his family he will be missed by everyone he touched.

Chip - it was sad to read about your dad in StarTrib. It was a nice obit. Your dad was a wonderful man who raised wonder kids and made a difference in the lives of hundreds as teacher and coach (a legacy most of us can only dream about) Three years ago my son and I were touring Hamlin campus and saw Hutton gym. Your dad and grandpa must have made alot of fun history there! How proud you must be! Anyway, wanted to say I'm thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.
P.S. I'm in the book!

Dear Hutton Family,
I echo the sentiments of my Brother Tad, Coach Hutton was a wonderful role model for us. He helped to not only get me into college but off to college in his old gray Buick that he had driven to Lincoln everyday, a gift from a very kind and generous man.

I was very sad to hear of Coach Hutton's passing. I never knew him personally, but as a Lincoln High grad I admired him and his basketball games were always a not-to-be-missed event. He lives on in his children and grandchildren and blessings to the Hutton family.

As a young boy growing up in Willmar in the early 50's, I met Joe while he was playing 2nd base for the semi-pro baseball team there. I was allowed to sit in the dugout and developed a nice friendship with him. In the winter, while playing for the Minneapolis Lakers he arranged for me and a friend to attend a game. The seats were two rows behind the Lakers bench. What a thrill. Later, while he was in the Army we exchanged letters. What a nice man! I last saw him in the 1970's tailgating before a Viking's game. I reintroduced myself and he remembered me. Warmest condolences to the family

Millie,
When Mike came into my life, the entire Klein group became part of my life as well. You and Joe immediately found a special spot in my heart. Joe was so witty and intelligent. And as so many people have said here, he always knew how to put a smile on your face. I will miss him very much. I'm so sad that Joe's foot was bothering him last Friday and that I didn't get the chance to see him one last time. My thoughts are with you, Millie.
