Robert Ross Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 18 to May 20, 2011.
Age 27 years young of North St. Paul, MN Our amazing young man was tragically taken from us in a traffic accident in St. Petersburg, FL on May 13th. Preceded in death by grandma, Delores Spaniol; grandpa, Roy Ross; and aunt, Yvonne Anderson. Survived by his loving parents, Jim and Debbie; sister, Katie (Brian) Norelius; brother, Jim Jr. Ross; and brother, Tom (Micheala) Ross; nephews, Blake, Brennen, Samson, and Gabriel. While living out his ice-hockey dreams, Robb traveled to Fairbanks, AK for Junior-A hockey, West Point Academy NY for four years of D-1 collegiate hockey, and most recently, two years of professional hockey in Europe. Robb was going to spend the summer in the Tampa Bay area working at a hockey development camp for young, talented hockey players, before returning to Europe for a 3rd year of professional hockey. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, May 23rd at the CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 North Margaret Street in North St. Paul. Visitation Sunday, May 22nd 2-7 PM at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 & Co Rd 5), Stillwater. We are thankful for every day that God graced us with his presence. His strength, determination, and faith were an inspiration to all who knew him. Robb will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all his many relatives and friends he has touched around the world. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Robb Ross Memorial Fund at Anchor Bank of North St. Paul, 2700 East Seventh Ave, North St. Paul, MN 55109. 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater 651-439-5511

Dear Ross Family,

I had the pleasure of knowing Robb through Matt Hickey. Each time West Point played BC in football, I hosted a number of West Point hockey players and each time, Robb was the life of the party. We developed a nice friendship to the point that whenever I connected with Matt, I always had to know what the latest on Robb was as well.

I was fortunate enough to randomly cross paths with Robb one night this winter in Minneapolis. He recognized me, which is a testament to his outgoing nature. His smile and general attitude for life were infectious. We weren't the best of friends, but I can honestly say that I am a better person because of Robb.

RIP my man.

Even in these sad times I hope you find the strength to remember all the wonderful times that Robb gave so many people. You should be so proud of Robb for the man that he was. Robb I am going to miss that infectious laugh, that sense of humor, and the huge heart that you always had. I enjoyed so many good times with you on the baseball field at North. I met Robb while working at Acceleration Minnesota when he was training to compete at an elite level. I will miss him dearly and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Jim, Debbie & Family,
There are simply no words to describe the deep sadness in our hearts right now. It feels like one of these days we should all wake up only to realize this has all been just a bad dream.

Robb was such a fine young man and such a pleasure to be around. Tom and I are so thankful for the friendship our boys shared and through them we got to know your family. Only time will heal the ache in your hearts, but we hope and pray that you will find comfort in knowing how many friends are thinking of you at this unbelievably difficult time. We are all holding your family tight in our thoughts and prayers and rest assured, Robb will never be forgotten.

Julie Miller

May 20, 2011

I met Robb when he came into my training room and told me he needed me to make him better before he went to Europe to continue his dreams of playing hockey at an elite level. I didn't work here when he went here but he trusted that I could help. He was so humble and kind. Robb was always so excited when he came back in between seasons and told me his adventures.

To the family and close friends, smile when you remember that Robb was living out his dream and that he loved life. I knew that just by the few encounters I had with him. Find peace in knowing that... as it is not easy to see that right now. It will get easier and you will find the joy in thinking of the memories you had with him. He was an awesome guy and he will be missed by many, especially the hockey family here at North. Watch over us Robb!!

Jim, Debbie, Katie, Jim Jr. and Tom-

Words cannot express how deeply saddened we were when we heard about Robb. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family. Anyone who knows the Ross family understands how close they are. Every time I talked to Katie, the first 20 minutes was all about family. She is so proud of all of the accomplishments of her brothers. Very few people can use their talents to positively impact families, friends, teams and communities the way Robb did. May you find comfort in the strength of your family, the love and support of countless friends and the amazing memories you have of Robb.

Rest in peace Robb. You will be missed!

Mr. Robb Ross: When I heard what had happened the first thing I could do was pull out the old 2002 baseball video that sent us to state! I can honestly say you were a huge part of some of the greatest 2 months of my life during that spring senior year! You were the inventor of BIG BAD BURNS and I'll never forget that!
You were the one who sent us to state with that game-winning hit against Stillwater! You were the king of the buckwheats as Sammy would say and who could ever forget the inventor of the HOCKEY HAIR! But more than any of those you were a great friend, inspiration, and leader! RIP pal, and it only rings true that Only the Good Die young!!
