Elaine Rose RUDERMAN Obituary
Age 84, of Rancho Bernardo, CA formerly of Mendota Heights Passed away peacefully in her home on July 20th with her family by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, NY along with her younger sister, Bonnie, to parents, Nettie and Max Rose. Elaine spent four wonderful years at Cornell University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in home economics in 1952. She later earned her Master of Arts at NYU. Elaine married her beloved Sidney Ruderman in 1953. She was the loving mother of the late Joan Ruderman and the late Paul Ruderman. Elaine's career as a home economist for New York State Extension Service and as an accomplished consumer news reporter for CBS radio spanned many years. She and Sid retired in Mendota Heights, MN where they enjoyed frequent visits with their two adoring grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth, and filled the walls with their artwork and photos. They enjoyed their time in Minnesota as active members in their community, Beth Jacob Congregation, and with their many friends. After Sidney's passing, Elaine found love again with John Holzheimer in San Diego, CA. There, she delighted in spending time with her family and friends. She took pride in her position as president of her Hadassah chapter and as a member of Ner Tamid Synagogue. She is survived by partner, John Holzheimer; sister, Bonnie Cohn; nephew Kneel Cohn; niece, Leslie Cohn; daughter-in-law, Dianne Ruderman; grandson, Michael Ruderman and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ruderman. She is also survived by her many cousins in France and Israel. Often described as a "force of nature" and an unrelenting optimist, her courage humor, intellect, wisdom and love will be missed dearly. Funeral service WEDNESDAY 10 AM, BETH JACOB CONGREGATION, 1179 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights. Memorials preferred to Hadassah Southern California, 4950 Murphy Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92123, Beth Jacob Congregation or Cornell Alumni Association.
