Reuben Kaplan Obituary
Age 85 Of St. Paul Passed away peacefully on November 3, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Molly and Hyman Kaplan; sister, Celia (Sidney) Goldstein and sister-in-law, Mildred Kaplan. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 63 years, Esther. He will be dearly missed by his children, Harold (Patrice) Kaplan, Molly (Kenneth) Garelick and Deborah (Alan) Dubinsky; grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Kaplan, James Kaplan, Benjamin Kaplan, Nancy (Scott) Weisberg, Alan Garelick, Lindsey Garelick, Aaron (Jodi) Tulman, Ross Tulman and Evan Tulman; great-grandchildren, Naomi and Bella Kaplan; brother, Louis Kaplan; sister-in-law, Molly Friedman; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their care and support. Reuben was the Past President of the Talmud Torah of St. Paul, Past President of Mid-America Insurance, Past President of Riverview & Riverside Lions and Past President of the Northwest Chapter of ISRI. He was the founder of the Marshall High School Alumni Assoc., founder of the Zipper Gang at Exercare at United Hospital, a member of the Northern Star Boy Scout Council, the Jewish War Veterans Post 354, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post #0521, Osman Shrine and the Midway Lions Club. Reuben was also the Past Master of Highland Masonic Lodge and a member of the Macalester Masonic Lodge. Funeral service THURSDAY (TODAY) 11AM at TEMPLE OF AARON SYNAGOGUE, 616 Mississippi River Blvd., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reuben & Esther Kaplan Music Fund at Talmud Torah of St. Paul, the Reuben & Esther Kaplan Endowment Fund at the JCC of St. Paul, The Temple of Aaron or the donor's favorite charity.
