Norman John ANDERSON Obituary
Age 88 ~ Beloved Father, Grandfather, Friend and St. Paul Teacher Passed away peacefully on August 15, 2012. Preceded by wife, Frances (Sherburne); infant son, Gary; granddaughter, Elizabeth Vento; parents, Swant and Bertha (Mittlestadt) Anderson; siblings, Roger, Dorothy (Freeman) Seitz and Betty (Loren) Wyss. Survived by children, Bruce (Jackie), Ken (Rita), Dean (Dorie), Roger, Karen (Michael) Vento; grandchildren, Sarah, Gina, Ryan (Nilceia), Colin, Caitlin, Trevor, Reid, Ross, Daniel and Katherine Vento; many nieces and nephews. Born in Menomonie, WI on February 29, 1924. A World War II veteran (South Pacific), he then attended Stout, earning his BS and MS. He settled in St. Paul's East Side, teaching Industrial Arts and coaching at Humboldt H.S. for 19 years. In 1970 he transferred to St. Paul TVI, retiring in 1986. He was a 60-year member of Hazel Park Congregational Church, serving as a Deacon and helping with Boy Scout Troop 184. Norm was a gifted illustrator and craftsman, avid skier and loved the outdoors. He passed those loves on to his children and grandchildren with skiing lessons, nature walks, canoeing, berry picking, and countless building and repair projects. His and Fran's cabin in Wisconsin was a joy shared with family and friends. A special thanks to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living of Roseville for their loving care. Visitation Sunday, August 26, 2-6 pm at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury. Funeral Service at Hazel Park Congregational United Church of Christ, 1831 Minnehaha Ave E., St. Paul Monday, August 27, at 11 am; visitation one hour prior.
