Obituary Condolences

Robert Daniel "R.D." BROWN Obituary
RD passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a hard-fought battle with complications following a stem cell transplant. He entered the U.S. Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1969. RD came to Minnesota in 1995 to work as Director of Donor Services for the National Marrow Donor Program, where he spent almost 10 years. He retired and began volunteer work as a Guardian ad litem, a member of the Minnesota Board on Aging, and member of the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission, where he was appointed as Executive Director in 2010. He served there until his passing. RD was known for his passion, integrity, and his advocacy on behalf of those who were vulnerable. He was not always tactful about voicing his opinions and did not suffer fools lightly. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know and love him will celebrate his triumphs and foibles in a memorial service at O'Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home, 575 South Snelling Avenue, Saint Paul, 55116. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be Saturday, October 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with viewing the hour preceding. A catered reception will immediately follow Memorial Services. Interment will take place at a later date in a location out of town. RD is survived by Wife, Constance Tuck-Brown; son, Matthew; daughter, Melanie; Mother, Hazel Robinson; sister, Barbara Singleton (Romeo); brother, David Robinson; sister, Cynthia Cash; brother, DeJuan Bishop (Pam); in-laws David Tuck, Gwendolyn Bonner (Larry), Portia Tuck, Reginald Tuck (Connie); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by father, Robert Benjamin Brown; in-laws John D. Tuck, Marie Tuck, Thomas Tuck, and Patricia Tuck.
