Lorraine J. CONLEY Obituary
Of Richfield, MN passed away on February 21, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born on April 2, 1925 in Evelyth, MN and moved to Minneapolis as a young woman to complete her education. She left college to raise a family and returned to finish her degree in 1963, graduating Summa cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Following her graduation, she taught English and Spanish at St. Paul Murray for over 20 years. Lorraine then took a sabbatical and completed additional courses to become an ESL teacher. She finished her career at Highland Park in St. Paul teaching English as a second language. After retirement, she volunteered with the Minneapolis Public Library, working 22 years in the bookshop at the main library in downtown Minneapolis. It was a fitting avocation for someone who placed such a high value on education and literacy. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Colleen Conley and is survived by her other five children; Deirdre Conley of St. Louis Park, Bridget Baker of Sequim, WA, Patricia Conley of Edina, James Joseph Conley of Moundsview and David Conley of Ellicott City, MD. She is also survived by her grand-daughter Andrea Baker of Seattle, WA and a loving circle of relatives beyond her immediate family Her memory will live on through the hundreds of students she influenced and the many friends and relatives who admired her perseverance in the face of adversity. She will be missed, but she will not be forgotten. Lorraine will be interred at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. At her request, no services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to The .
