Michael D. ANDERSON Obituary
Age 64, of Marathon, WI passed away on July 15, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Minneapolis, MN to the late Arthur and Florence Anderson. Mike attended St. Lawrence Elementary School, Marshall High School, and the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1975. He joined active service with the Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Division as a Pathfinder from 1969 to 1970. He remained in the Army Reserve for 20 years achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. Mike and Kathy met at the University of Minnesota and were married in September of 1971 in St. Paul, Minnesota. They lived in the Twin Cities area for many years where Mike worked for Target, American National Bank, and National Computer Systems. In 1989 they moved to Wausau, WI with their two sons, Peter and William, where he worked for Fiskars for over a decade representing them worldwide as Director of Human Resources for Fiskars Consumer Products. Mike is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Peter (Betty) and William (Carly), grandchildren Ethan and Brooklyn, great grandchildren Adyn, Aynslee, and Lauryn, sister Jeanne Mraz, brother Jim Anderson (Kathy), sisters-in-law Sue (Dick) Snoke , Mary (Gary) Livingston, Nancy (Neil) Danielson, and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. There will be a gathering of family and friends at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the gathering with Military honors to follow. Mike will be buried in Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, Wisconsin on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. www.brainardfuneral.com
