Joseph E. RICHARDSON Obituary
1929 - 2013 Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather Joe died peacefully the morning of September 6, 2013 at the Benedictine Center in New Brighton. He and his wife, Mary Jo (Ryan), were married for sixty years this summer. They lived in Shoreview for the past twenty-seven years. He is also survived by three wonderful children, James (partner Drew), Frances Kozlowski, and Michael (Angie), three grandchildren, Kylie, Libbie and Jackie, and three great grandchildren, Cooper, Javier and Thalia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Donald, parents Byron and Emily (Thomas) Richardson. Joe is a graduate of Cretin High School (Class of 1948). He attended the College of St. Thomas until the National Guard was activated and he served in the Korean War as a combat Commander. After he returned to Minnesota, Joe was active in Veterans' Affairs. He served as Commander of the Midway American Legion Post and Vice-Commander of the 4th District. He was working in sales and marketing for the printing industry for more than forty years. In recent years, he was a member of the American Legion, (Post 418), VFW (Post 1782) and the DAV (Gopher State#8). In addition, he belonged to the Knights Of Columbus at St. Odilia's Catholic Community. He was an avid outdoors man who loved canoeing, fishing, golfing and following the Twins and Vikings. Joe will be greatly missed by family and friends. Mass Of Christian Burial 11AM Wednesday, September 11th, 2013 (gathering begins at 10 am) at ST. ODILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3495 N. Victoria, Shoreview. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated for the development office of Cretin-Derham High School or Sisters of St. Joseph Ministries Foundation, or donor's choice.
