Betty Lou (Mergens) ANDERSON Obituary
Age 86, of Oak Park Heights, MN died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 12, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale, to whom she was married for 66 years. Dale passed away on October 7, 2013. He awaited her journey into Heaven so they once again could be together. Betty was born in St. Paul, MN and was a long-time resident of Roseville, MN. She graduated from Central High School in St. Paul (1944) where she met her husband. Betty was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She believed that her family was the center of her life. She and her husband were fortunate to travel throughout the US and give their children the opportunity to visit most of the states in the continental US. During the winter she and Dale spent time vacationing on Sanibel Island, Florida and in the summer they enjoyed the Brainerd Lakes area of MN. Her time with family was coveted. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Blanche Mergens; a brother, Mark Mergens; and a son Craig R. Anderson. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by three children, Gale L. Shea (Bashar), Woodbury, MN, Kent Anderson (Cheryl), North Oaks, MN, and Christopher L. Anderson (Julie), Lino Lake, MN; daughter-in-law, Kathie Anderson (Minnetonka); 10 grandchildren: Stacy (Rob), Erica (Dmitry), Aly (Dave), Ryan, Justin, Casey, Lauren, McKenzie, Griffin and Jason; 1 great-grandchild. Grant and five siblings, George Mergens(Elaine) Woodbury, MN; Patricia Ward (Ray)Wahpeton, ND; Ronald Mergens (Maureen) Eagan, MN; Gerald Mergens(Judith) Hayward, WI; and Carol Butwinick (Mark) Henderson, NV. She had many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held, for her and Dale, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Rd, Mahtomedi, MN 55115 on October 28, 2013. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow thereafter. Family and friends may gather for the interment at St. Andrew's after the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to, Second Harvest Heartland, Hazelden Foundation or St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
