1924 - 2014 Obituary Condolences Flowers
Another of The Greatest Generation has died at age 89 on Saturday, February 22, 2014. A recent resident in Minnetonka, longtime resident of Midway St. Paul, MN, Jim was born in 1924 in Hanley Falls, the second oldest of four sons of Neil E. & Esther Little Hannah. Jim celebrated most of his birthdays enjoying the fall colors and hunting season. A student of the 1942 class in Wood Lake & 1943 Graduate of Northfield High School, Jim served in the US. Navy in the Caribbean & Pacific theatres during WWII. Returning to the Nerstrand-Northfield region, Jim enjoyed dancing to the music at the old Prom Ballroom, where he met Marge in 1951. Jim continued to farm after marrying Marge, then settled in the Midway area in 1958, driving for the Twin City Bus Lines & finally retiring from the USPS after 22 years as a letter carrier. He lost his sweetheart of 61 years, Margaret M. Bohnen Hannah, in September 2012. Jim is survived by four daughters; Bonnie Torgersen & Allan Webster of Danbury, WI & Marana, AZ, Barbara Hannah & Paul Delau of Minnetonka; Elizabeth Agerbeck of Fridley; Bobbi & Glenn Hallberg of Sedro Woolley, WA. Jim is also survived by brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Bohnen of Forest Lake; five granddaughters, Dawn Strong of AZ, Deb & Troy Rose of Wyoming, MN, Anna & Aaron Hallberg-Fisher of Hoquiam, WA, Kathryn & Luke Skibba of Waukegon, IL, & Rebecca Hallberg of Sedro Woolley, WA; & one grandson, Michael Agerbeck of Fridley; two great-grandsons, Jacob & Justin Rose & two great-granddaughters, Kristina Agerbeck & Maia Hallberg-Fisher. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Thomas, & Baby Neil, as well as brothers-in-law, Albert & William Bohnen & sisters-in-law, Arlene, Judy, & Laura Bohnen, & Nancy Hannah. Visitation Sunday, March 2nd from 1-3 PM. Funeral Service following at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church-in-the-Midway, Roy and Shields Ave., St. Paul. A celebration meal will follow the funeral service in the church basement. Flowers have been planned, so if you desire, donations might be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church-in-the-Midway's Building Fund, for Marge, or your local VFW Post.
