Fred LANG Obituary
Age 89 of Minnetonka Beach Passed away on June 14, 2014, after a long and joyful life. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Preceded in death by wife, Katherine and sister, Betty Jean Melching. Survived by children, Fred Lang II (Lynette) and Katie Norman; grandchildren, Freddie, Alex, Cammie and Jack. Fred was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of MN in Electrical Engineering and Business Administra-tion. Fred had an entrepreneurial spirit ever since he was a young boy. He began his career in the computer industry working for 3M and Univac, building computer systems for the Nave and air traffic control systems for the FAA. In 1966, Fred founded his most successful venture with Analysts International Corp., a computer software services company that he built from the ground up and retired from as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Fred enjoyed downhill skiing, antique boating, building model ships and world travel, as well as spending time at his homes in Mazatlan and Naples. His most treasured hobby was reading. He was curious and loved learning about the world. Fred was charismatic, adventurous and loved life. He will be missed. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Paul Gotlieb, Mary, Nancy and Misty for years of exceptional care. Funeral Service 5:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, with visitation beginning at 4:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, W. 50th St. & Vernon Ave. at hwy. 100, Edina. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
