BARLOW, ESTHER MAY  
ESTHER MAY BARLOW, died peacefully on the 14th of May 2016. Esther was ninety-six. The long time resident of Ukiah was born on the 8th of December 1919 to Earl and Hilda Shearer of Oakland, California. She was their only child. A mother of five, Esther is preceded in death by her children, Catherine Ann St. Julien and Michael Earl McGovern. Left behind to mourn her passing are five great grandchildren, ten grandchildren, and her three remaining sons, Mark Andrew McGovern, wife Myra, Terrence Patrick McGovern, wife Loretta and Steven Paul McGovern and his wife Mandy. Many friends will remember her as a talented seamstress. Others will remember her as a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Still others will remember her as a good neighbor and citizen. All who knew her loved her and all are invited to a memorial and celebration of her life, Friday May27 at 3 o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church 514 W Church Street in Ukiah, reception to follow. Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Shields, Margueritte Rose  
Margueritte Rose Shields, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Ukiah, California on Friday, May 20, 2016. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Margueritte was born August 11, 1929 to her parents, Henriette and John Garzini in Talmage, California where she lived until April 7, 1951 when she married her husband, Alva Terrance Shields and moved to Ukiah. She lived in Ukiah the rest of her life. Margueritte worked at the Assessor's Office at the Mendocino County Courthouse, and later retired from Waste Management after being the office manager there for more than 20 years. After retirement, Margueritte volunteered for Plowshares as well as the Ukiah Senior Center for more than 15 years. She was an avid bowler and gardening enthusiast. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and often made her own clothes as well as clothing for her children. Margueritte was an active member at St. Mary's of the Angels where she attended faithfully and volunteered for various church functions. Margueritte loved to travel. She made several trips to Europe, as well as vacationing in Mexico, Hawaii and New York City. Margueritte is lovingly survived by her sister, Jeanette Larramendy, her son, Timothy Shields, her daughter, Roxanne Bateman, her three grandchildren, Daniele Shields, Andrea Heaney and Kyle Shields, and her great-grandson Bryton Shields. She is predeceased by her husband Alva "Terry" Shields, her parents, Henriette and John Garzini and her brother, Henry Garzini. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Interment will be in Ukiah Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Ukiah, Ukiah Senior Center or Plowshares.

Veronica Rodriguez Vega January 22, 1974 - May 18, 2016 Veronica is survived by her husband, Antonio; sons, Anthony and Andrew; parents, Rogelio and Fransisca; siblings Rogelio (Rosa), Victor (Paloma), Daniel, Oscar and Mireya; brother in law Silvestre; nieces and nephews Brandon, Tiago, Rogelio Jr. and Juliana; Goddaughters Victoria and Sofia. Her family and friends will miss her smile, laughter, sense of humor, guidance and strength.. Visitation will be held at St. Mary of the Angel's Catholic Church in Ukiah on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Zimmerman, Florence Esther  
Florence Esther Zimmerman passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 peacefully in her sleep with family present. Florence was born in Missouri on January 22, 1920. She moved with her family to Ukiah in 1930. In 1938 she graduated from Ukiah High School. She worked 25 years of which 6 years were Post Master of the Talmage Post Office from 1974 thru January 1980. She enjoyed gardening and extensive travel throughout the world. Florence was preceded in death by her three husbands (John Haydon, Richard Zimmerman and Grant Jensen) as well as special friends Bill Meek and Arthur Mihelcic; parents John Miller and Mary Hall; brother Walter Miller and sister Cloia Mathis and sons Ronal, Henry and Robert Haydon and Robert Haydon. She leaves behind her loving family and dear friends; son and daughter in law Walter and Gretchen Haydon; daughter in law Tess Haydon; granddaughters Karen Dziki and Jenny Higgins; grandsons Mark Haydon and Ronnie Haydon and wife Heather; great granddaughters Hillary Scott, Amanda Haydon, Tia Higgins and Haley Higgins; great grandsons Drew Dziki, Tanner Haydon, Trenton Higgins, Wyatt Haydon, Clay Haydon and Jacob Dziki; great great granddaughter Dhalia Garcia as well as many nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Eversole Mortuary.
