George Word West

George Word West George was born November 10, 1947 and passed away at home on April 7, 2013 with his wife Janet by his side. George was born in Fordyce, Arkansas to William and Amale West. In 1952 the family relocated to California, settling in Anderson Valley. Out of high school, George moved to Ukiah and began work as an automotive mechanic. Soon after, George entered the service and served with the 70th Armor 24th Infantry Division during the Viet Nam conflict. After his discharge from the U. S. Army he returned to Ukiah and resumed his career as an automotive mechanic, and continued in his chosen career until his retirement. In his younger days, George was an outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. George is survived by his wife Janet, sister Ninna (Andy) Zanardi, son Willie (Angel) West and step-children Rickey (Sue) Wright, Branden (Shane‚) Wright, Chrissy Ault and Nikki Roubidoux. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Elizabeth, parents William and Amale West and sister, Maocca Halbohm. Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Hospice, the or Special Olympics. No funeral services are planned per George's wishes.
