Samuel Powell Obituary
Samuel Powell, 83, of Redwood Valley went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Holy Spirit Residential Care Home with his family present. Samuel was born August 1, 1930 in Raymondville, Texas. Samuel was educated in a one room school. He became part of the dust bowl migration moving to Redwood Valley 60 years ago. He worked for Masonite Corp for 30 years and then for Hertz Rent-a-car. Samuel was a proud father of seven, grandfather and great grandfather who loved sports and watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He was involved in the North Ukiah Little League as a coach receiving the coach appreciation award. Samuel also liked to fish. Samuel attended the First Baptist Church and was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. He will be remembered for the love of his children and always wanting the best for them. He was extremely hard working and a man of great integrity. The family of Samuel would like to thank the "Holy Spirit" gang for all the laughs, parties, patience and loving care any one would hope for in the end of life stages. Samuel is survived by his wife of 60 years Lucy Powell of Ukiah, daughters Johanna (John) Boardman of Ukiah, Gloria (Rich) Nordyke of Ukiah, Diana Powell of Sacramento, Alice (Ken) Harwood of Lakeport, sons Samuel (Susan) Powell of Lincoln, Thomas (Donna) Powell of Redwood Valley, Kenneth (Laura) Powell of Pine Mountain, sister Lorene Dougherty of Galt and sister in law Violet Powell of Sacramento.
