John Brady proud Owner of The Shady Brady Hat Company, passed away peacefully on Monday June 12, 2017 from Alzheimers Dementia. John was struck at an early age and robbed him of his love for life. He was 66 years old. John started out by traveling the world. He searched for feet on every beach, selling his hand made leather sandals to all. He loved New Zealand and Australia. John started his own company Shady Brady Hats in Ukiah CA back in the early seventies. He was a renaissance man; with many talents. He was creative and designed his own hat molds and equipment. His hat collection flooded the stores across the states. Julia Roberts looked like a real cowgirl wearing his hat in Runaway Bride. Many celebrities wore John's hats. John had a passion for surfing, wind surfing and traveling the world meeting friends along the way. John had a love for animals of all kinds; especially cats. Another love was his collection of beautiful vintage Lotus cars which he liked to call his children. John was a good hearted man and was a very fair and kind hearted Boss to all that worked for Shady Brady. He had several long term employees who stayed dedicated to him until the end. We will miss the mischievous grin he had when he was up to something, joking around or eating chocolate. John will be missed, but memories of his extraordinary life and his hats will live on for many years. Thank you to all who cared for John during the past few years and a special thanks to Gracious Living and their staff where John lived for the past year. God bless his soul and may he Rest in Peace. A private ceremony will be conducted in Bodega Bay.

I knew nothing about Mister Brady. 2 days ago I went into 'Bootleggers' a Toronto Western Apparel Store since 1968. At the back of the store was a hat that took my eye. Almost 2 years after Mister Bradys death and here is a truly masterful hat new on the shelf. Such an awesome design from an awesome designer. So proud to now own such a great hat! Thank you Mister Brady. P.S.: My Mother just died 10 Oct 2018 in my arms. My condolences to the Brady family and friends.
