UNION — Mrs. Bessie Wishert Fant, 82, 101 Culp St., Union, widow of Marion Brown Fant, Sr., passed away, Monday April 28, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Fant was born in Chester, Dec. 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Lawrence Dean Wishert and Bessie Hinnant Wishert. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and retired from Conso Products. Mrs. Fant was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church since 1959. She served on various committees of the church and served as Secretary for the Adult Sunday School Dept. Mrs. Fant also taught Training Union and was a member of the choir.
Mrs. Fant was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by two sons, M. Brown Fant, Jr. and wife Judy and Terry Rodger Fant and wife Ellon, all of Union; four grandchildren, Heather Fant Vinson and husband Mark, Angela Marie Fant, Cameron Greer Fant and wife Misty, and Christopher Brown Fant; four great-grandchildren, Travis Marshall, Blake Vinson, Logan Vinson, and Connor Fant.
Mrs. Fant was predeceased by three sisters, Annie Lee Stephenson, Sarah Carter and Ella Mae Traylor; and five brothers, J.T. Wishert, L.D. Wishert, Albert Wishert, Haskel Wishert and Clarence Wishert.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman and Rev. Randy Smith. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Tommy Anthony, James Coffer, Wilbur Smith III, Mark Vinson, Logan Vinson and Travis Marshall.
The family would like to recognize and express their appreciation to Mrs. Fant's personal caregivers: Laura Moss, Marie Bailey, Mary Toney and Teresa Humphries and also to the staff and nurses of Medi Home Hospice by asking them to sit in a group.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
