UNION — Mrs. Mary Sparks Gossett, 91, widow of R.P. Gossett, 302 Springsdale Drive, Union, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at National Health Care in Clinton.
Mrs. Gossett was born in Union, Nov. 11, 1921, a daughter of the late William Levi Sparks and Katie Marie Hewitt Sparks. She was a graduate of Union High School and had worked as a delivery driver with Burgess Cleaners in Union for 30 years and retired from Her Majesty as a supervisor after 16 years. She was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Lybrand Sunday School class and the Eugenia Smith Circle.
Mrs. Gossett was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are a daughter, Tamison G. Ward of Union; a grandson, Heath Ward and wife Erica Boyd Ward of Spartanburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gossett was predeceased by a son, Brent Gossett; two granddaughters, Deidre LaTrae Ward and Megan Suzette Ward; and four brothers, Arthur, Clyde, Robert and Ralph Sparks.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Don Shetley and Rev. Merritt Wentz.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the services.
